Hapimag resorts with record guest numbers in 2019 – in a changing market environment

Steinhausen, 9 January 2020

  • The Swiss holiday provider welcomed around 418,000 guests to its resorts last year, exceeding the record figure of the previous year
  • In addition, 18 Hapimag resorts were presented with a HolidayCheck Award at the beginning of the year – including 9 Gold Awards
  • The Hapimag resorts Hamburg (DE), Dresden (DE), Pentolina (IT) and Interlaken (CH) were chosen as the most popular holiday resorts

"This is a great start to the new year," said Hassan Kadbi, CEO of Hapimag. "2019 was certainly not an easy year for tourism. We are all the more pleased that so many guests have spent their holidays with us. We owe this record number of guests above all to the loyalty of our shareholders and members, and the enthusiasm with which they attract new guests to us.”

The total number of guests accommodated was around 418,000, exceeding the previous year's record of 415,000. At the same time, the occupancy rate of 69 per cent was slightly down on the outstanding previous year (72 per cent). Apart from the industry-wide trend towards more short breaks, the decline in occupancy was also attributable to additional capacity (+1.5 per cent) at the resort Cavallino (IT) and a decline in demand for holiday destinations such as Majorca and the Canaries.

In terms of service quality, Hapimag once again achieved its customary high level: 18 Hapimag resorts this week received a HolidayCheck Award – including 9 Gold Awards. Among the guests' favourite resorts were Marbella (ESP), Pentolina (IT) and Flims (CH).

The resorts Hamburg (Hamburg region, DE), Dresden (Saxony, DE) and Pentolina (Tuscany, IT) achieved a regional top position. Hamburg also came in first in the category of city breaks worldwide. The top ten ranking of cities also includes Dresden (6th place) and Interlaken (8th place).

The high level of guest satisfaction in the Hapimag resorts is also reflected on other rating platforms such as Booking.com (Ø 8.63/10) and Google (Ø 4.5/5). As in the previous year, internally measured guest satisfaction was 84 per cent. In addition to general guest satisfaction, this monitoring also collects feedback on offers and services. It is provided by more than 40 000 guests every year.

Kadbi continues: “I am extremely pleased that we have received such great guest feedback in 2019. It is our aim to make our guests happy and always exceed their expectations. We achieve this through personal attention and outstanding service at the resorts. I would like to thank all our guests for this great feedback and our employees for their excellent work!”
